The government urges efforts for peace talks in a way that honors the country's interests: President Sahlework Zewde

 

Addis Ababa, President Sahlework Zewde said that the government will push for peace talks with the terrorist TPLF in a manner that respects the interests of the country and focuses on sustainability.

 

The President spoke at the joint opening ceremony of the 2nd year term of the House of Representatives and the Federation Council.

 

In his speech regarding the focus of the government for the 2015 fiscal year, he said that he will continue the successes recorded in the 2014 fiscal year and correct the deficiencies.

 

The president stated that the government understands that the issues of peace and democracy are urgent, and according to the direction set by the government, it will push the government to do its best to have peace talks with the terrorist TPLF in a manner that focuses on the country's interests and sustainability.

 

However, he emphasized that the necessary action will be taken against any harassment by trampling on this peace option.

 

On the other hand, he said that the government will work for the implementation of the ideas and decisions that have been made so that the National Consultative Commission can do its work in a streamlined manner.

 

He also explained that by understanding the current situation of international diplomacy, he will work in coordination with foreign friendly countries in a way that secures the long-term interests of our country.

 

He also pointed out that he will work hard to attract potential investors by doing various promotional activities to promote Ethiopia as an investment destination.

 

The President said that the construction of the Great Renaissance Dam will be completed according to the scheduled schedule, and that we will continue to conduct the necessary discussions and negotiations by investigating any questions that may arise regarding the dam from the point of view of the benefit of Ethiopia.

 

Realizing that there is a high level of public anger due to the lack of justice or delay, he said that by making reforms involving the people, he will work in coordination to satisfy the thirst of the customer by establishing an efficient and transparent system.

 

He said that in-depth and action-oriented work will be done in the field of good governance and appropriate adjustments will be made by identifying the source of the problem and the procedures and employees.

 

In his speech, the president said that they will be put to work with their full potential by completing the unfinished works started in the social sector.

 

He also pointed out that the government's next focus is to put the institutions that were destroyed due to war into full operation.

 

He also mentioned that the government will make efforts to improve tax revenue, reduce waste of resources, use the government budget for poverty alleviation, stabilize inflation and maintain a healthy macro economy.

 

He said, "I hope that in the fiscal year, by resolving conflicts through dialogue and moving the consultation commission forward, by continuing development in the way it was started, by freeing the people from the social and economic problems they are facing, we will be motivated at a high level."
