Engineer Merga Sefera, Director of the Road Traffic Engineering and Operations Directorate of the Agency, said preparations have been completed for the construction of six junctions in the North Municipality, Afncho Ber Nigeria Embassy, ​​Cherkos, Saris 58, Bole and Gerji areas.

 Improvements to road junctions will be made in terms of flow and pedestrian safety, and will include various traffic signs; Widening narrow roads around intersections; Make the wide ones comfortable for vehicles and pedestrians; Road dividers, pedestrian fences, bulletproof vests and ramp work for the disabled have been identified, which will ensure the safety of pedestrians beyond traffic congestion.

According to Merga, the agency has signed a contract to carry out road safety improvements in 26 designated areas to reduce traffic congestion and traffic accidents.

Improvements to the intersections are based on research by the agency, as well as ideas and inputs from the traffic police and the community, which are important in reducing traffic congestion and traffic accidents in the area.

When completed, the project will not only streamline traffic and pedestrian safety, but also alleviate traffic congestion in and out of the city, Engineer Merga said.
