Addis Ababa city administration has created job opportunities for more than 41 thousand citizens in the first quarter of the fiscal year, Mayor Adanech Abebe announced.

Mayor Adanech gave answers and explanations to the questions raised by councilors at the 1st regular meeting of the 3rd year of Addis Ababa City Council.

In his explanation, he said that in the first quarter of the fiscal year, employment opportunities were created for 41 thousand 545 citizens by empowering citizens who have the skills required by the market.

He stated that 77 percent of the job opportunities were created for the youth.

He said that the role of the private sector is also important in terms of creating permanent job opportunities for job-seeking citizens.

The mayor also stated that 225 enterprises have benefited 2 thousand 265 operators by transferring 30 thousand 806 square meters of work space.

In addition, he said that efforts are being made to increase customer satisfaction by establishing a balanced and fair business system in the city, as well as establishing a fast, efficient and modern operating system.

He said that the action against traders engaged in illegal business has also been intensified.

He said that according to the plan to expand the Sunday market centers, markets have been added every quarter and now a total of 173 markets are providing services.

In the quarter, 95 thousand 967 quintals of sugar and 4 million 270 thousand 38 liters of oil were distributed to consumers, according to the information obtained from the mayor's office.
