° "Promise about salary and housing problem has not been fulfilled" - university teachers

University teachers complained to Tikvah Ethiopia that the promises made to us regarding housing construction and salary increase have not been fulfilled yet.

 

"Although officially or not, the Prime Minister had promised that there would be an increase in salaries from July 1, 2015, in a meeting attended by university teachers on January 16, 2015," the teachers said. 

 

In relation to the increase, he mentioned that a three-way salary scale option was to be studied and implemented by a committee made up of the teachers' union, the education minister and the civil service commission.

 

"The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ayob Tekaleng, told our representatives that this study will be implemented from July 2014, but it has not been implemented," he said.

 

"After that, there was a strike from November 26. The Prime Minister also said in January 2015 that there will be an increase from July 1/2015, but there has been no increase yet," he said.

 

"In our country, the salary studied for university teachers has not been implemented at a high cost."
