More than 42 thousand quintals of agricultural products have entered the capital

Today, more than 42 thousand quintals of agricultural products from the Oromia region have entered Addis Ababa, the trade office of the city announced.

It was also stated that the Deputy Governor of Oromia Region, Awelu Abdi, handed over the products to the officials of the capital.

In his speech during the handover, Ato Awelu said that 40 to 50 thousand quintals of various important agricultural products will enter Addis Ababa in the coming days.

The office also announced that the agricultural production imported from the Oromia region has continued in accordance with the market linkages that the Addis Ababa city administration is making with the regions.

He recalled that earlier, more than 28 thousand different agricultural products were brought to the capital and distributed to the community.

He also pointed out that due to the high demand in the city, more than 219 mills in Oromia are supplying maize, wheat and teff flour to the city community.

Mr. Awelu also stated that preparations are being made for 1.1 million quintals of summer wheat produced in the region to enter the market.

He emphasized that there is sufficient food production at the national level to stabilize the market.

According to Addis Ababa City Trade Bureau, the government will take all necessary measures against those who make political tools by hiding agricultural products and increasing prices unnecessarily.

Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Jantarar Abai, said that the city administration is working to ensure that agricultural products are imported at the required level through market linkages with the regions.

In this process, it is possible to bring down the inflation in a sustainable way.

He called on the community to work with the city administration to enforce the law by providing information on the activities of hiding agricultural products.

Ato Jantarar, who thanked the people and government of Oromia region for their cooperation, expressed his belief that they will continue to strengthen their support in the long term.
