An explanation from Ethiopian Airlines regarding the price of the plane ticket

Ethiopian Airlines has given an explanation regarding the price of the plane ticket in connection with the foreign exchange adjustment on the Ethiopian currency. 

The full text of the explanation is as follows: 

Following the foreign exchange adjustment of Ethiopian currency, we have noticed that information has been spread in various internet media that the international and domestic flight ticket prices of Ethiopian Airlines have increased significantly. Following this, we would like to give the following explanation to our esteemed passengers. 

In the case of international air transportation, the price of the plane ticket for international travel is calculated in US dollars or similar currencies. However, passengers can pay in the country's currency when purchasing a ticket in each country. 

The price of the ticket is calculated according to the foreign currency exchange rate of the country's currency on the date of purchase of the ticket. This is a global practice used by all airlines. 

Ethiopian Airlines has made no specific changes to international flights in dollars. However, when international tickets are bought in Ethiopia in Birr, the increase is due to the fact that the value of the dollar changes with the current exchange rate of Birr in the market. 

Dear customers, please understand that this is the procedure used by all international airlines that sell tickets in Ethiopia. 

On the other hand, following the recent foreign currency adjustment in our country, there has been no change in the price of tickets for domestic flights.  

However, we would like to remind you that there may be a slight adjustment in the domestic flight ticket price in the future in connection with the purchase and rental price of aircraft and the purchase of aircraft maintenance and spare parts whose payment is in foreign currency.
