The Minister of Irrigation and Lowland Areas, Abraham Bai (Dr.) stated that all stakeholders should fulfill their responsibilities in the implementation of phase 2 of the Lowland Livelihood Improvement Project.

 

Members of the Federal Steering Committee reviewed the implementation of the first phase of the Lowland Livelihood Improvement Project and the second phase plan.

 

At the same time, Dr. Abraham stated that the Lowland Areas Livelihood Improvement Project has contributed to bringing sustainable changes in the living conditions of the lowland residents.

 

He pointed out that all the stakeholders must fulfill their responsibilities for the implementation of the second phase of the project to be effective.

 

The second phase of the lowland livelihood improvement project will be implemented for 5 years in 7 regions and 120 districts of Dredawa administration at a cost of 424 million dollars. 

 

It is stated that the project will benefit 3 million households in the lowland area.

 

The purpose of the project is to strengthen activities that help improve the lives of pastoralist communities living in the lowlands of Ethiopia.

 

The Ministry of Irrigation and Lowland Environment has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Jobs and Skills, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Cooperative Commission and the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute to implement phase 2 of the project.
