The 5th African Women Leaders Alliance Forum Intergenerational Awareness is being held in Brazzaville, Congo

President Sahlework Zewde, former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, African Union Special Envoy for Women, Peace and Security Kenita Dabuna and women leaders of various international institutions and Congolese President Denis Saso Nguesso attended the forum.

In his speech at the forum, President Sahlework Zewde said that the joint work of women and men is needed for the continent of Africa, which is facing many problems due to its own and international reasons.

He said that the issue of exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge for young leaders is to ensure that the young generation does not repeat our mistakes and to create the future of Africa.

He also stated that organizations such as the African Women Leaders Alliance (AWLN) have an important role in ensuring gender equality on the African continent in order to achieve the goals of the African Union's "Africa We Want" Agenda 2063.

The Coalition of African Women Leaders was established in 2017 by the African Union and the United Nations; It has national branches in 33 African countries including Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian branch was officially established in October 2012 by President Sahlework Zewde.
