The Diaspora community has contributed more than 19 million dollars to national projects and current national calls in the last nine months, the Ethiopian Diaspora Service announced.

In the last nine months, 223 diaspora investors who have made more than 27 billion birr have been able to create employment opportunities for about three thousand citizens.

As the communication director of the service, Ato Wardwosen Girma, specifically informed EPD; In the last nine months, the diaspora has made a significant contribution to the country and has sent more than 19 million dollars to the country for national projects and current national calls.

The Diaspora has contributed more than 123 thousand dollars to the recently launched Gebeta tourism project. He pointed out that more than 2.3 million Birr was sent for the drought in Borena area.

He also announced that the diaspora has offered 5.2 million dollars to help in the rehabilitation of areas affected by various conflicts.

He said that medical supplies worth more than 12.2 million dollars to improve the health system have entered the country through the diaspora. He also said that the diaspora was able to contribute 35 million birr for various charitable activities.

According to Mr. Wardwesen; The diaspora is actively participating in various national movements. In the last nine months, he contributed 815 thousand dollars to the Nile Dam.

He pointed out that three point eight billion dollars were sent into the country in eight months. He stated that the total amount of money sent in nine months, including the Easter and Eid al-Fitr holidays, will be higher when known.

Regarding diplomatic work, Ato Wardewon said that the diaspora community has done many activities in the last nine months. He recalled that the diaspora community has made a great contribution in informing the international community about the reality of Ethiopia and opposing foreign interference.

The Director of Communications also pointed out that after the peace agreement to resolve the war in northern Ethiopia, various diaspora community organizations have supported the agreement and issued a series of statements.

They also pointed out that through the diplomatic activities carried out by the diaspora through physical and digital options, activities that protect Ethiopia's national interests have been carried out.
