56 million birr solar powered clean drinking water projects in Benishangul Gumuz region have been completed and started to operate.

In Benishangul Gumuz Region, Asosa Zone, Undulu District, three solar powered clean drinking water projects built by the Faroe Foundation have been inaugurated by the Regional Water and Energy Bureau and the leaders of the Faroe Foundation.

The Deputy Head of Water and Energy Bureau of Benishangul Gumuz Region, Mr. Mohammad Hamdenil stated that the solar power drinking water facilities built in the barren areas of Undulu district will help to solve the problem of clean drinking water of the community and urged the community to use them properly.

Mr. Beghashaw Teshome, Benishangul Gumuz regional manager of Faro Foundation, stated that the water facilities are fully solar powered and will serve fifteen thousand residents for up to sixty years.

The residents of the district also said that they have been suffering from the lack of clean drinking water and they are happy that water facilities have been built near them.

Ermias Habte (Dr.), the Ethiopian director of the Faroe Foundation, who attended the graduation ceremony of the water facilities, said that the foundation is engaged in education, health, clean drinking water and various development sectors in the region and is carrying out projects that benefit the community.
