The Assembly of Independent Economic Advisors, established by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, presented a list of activities

The Council of Independent Economic Advisers, established by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to advise the government on economic issues, presented in detail its activities in the last two years in a joint meeting with the members of the National Macroeconomic Committee.

He explained to the committee that he has organized himself by looking at the experiences of different countries and has prepared five different strategic documents.

The conference also submitted the request to the Macroeconomic Committee to consult on legality, budget, secretariat establishment and communication issues.

Members of the National Macroeconomic Committee explained that they appreciate the establishment of an independent advisory board of scholars, which did not exist in Ethiopia before, and prepared to give recommendations.

Regarding the contact time, it was agreed to meet with the committee twice a year and then meet with the Prime Minister once a year.

It was announced in the forum that the government will support the conference with the budget and it was decided to establish a secretariat responsible for the consultation.

The members of the National Macroeconomic Committee stressed that as the country is coming out of war and entering into peace, and there are various internal and external pressures that test the economy, the council should play its role in generating useful ideas.

In the meantime, the advisory council released a study on the impact of the conflict in northern Ethiopia on the economy of the country under the title of Civil Conflict and Economic Consequences.

The study indicated the cost burden on the country and analyzed direct cost, indirect cost, cumulative and immediate costs.

The members of the macroeconomic committee pointed out that the study is an important study and said that the study will help strengthen the three-year recovery plan prepared by the government.

The Ministry of Planning and Development announced that the discussion ended with an agreement by passing decisions on various issues.
