The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs stated that the World Bank has confirmed that it will continue to strengthen its support for social protection activities.

 

Minister of State for Women and Social Affairs Huria Ali discussed with Robert Chase, Manager of Social Protection and Implementation of the World Bank's Africa Region.

 

In their discussion, Minister of State for Women and Social Affairs Hurya Ali pointed out that the government is working to fulfill the basic needs of the citizens, especially to solve the social and economic problems of the poor and vulnerable sections of the society.

 

In particular, he stated that the aim and vision of the Ministry is to increase social cohesion and the role of the family, and to finance social security in a sustainable way in order to solve the increasing number of citizens who have left their homes on the streets and related challenges.

 

In addition, expanding effective social security coverage will also create an Ethiopia where citizens live in dignity.

 

The Minister of State also announced that he will work with organizations such as the World Bank to bring lasting change to solve the social and economic problems of the poor and vulnerable sections of the society.

 

The information obtained from the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs indicates that more support is needed for the effectiveness of the work being done to build the social protection system.

 

Robert Chase, the manager of social protection and implementation in the African region of the World Bank, said that the World Bank has adopted a people-centered approach, focused on the provision of basic services, food security and solving the problems of vulnerable sections of society, and has come up with a long-term development plan.

 

In addition, the World Bank has announced that it will support the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs to digitize the social services provided to citizens and to modernize the process.
