"Copper Switch of Initiative" started

#Ethiopia  He stated that he will transfer 100,000 copper customers to fiber in this fiscal year.

Ethio Telecom has announced a nationwide (Copper Switch-off) project to provide modern wired broadband internet services by converting existing copper lines to fiber.

The initiative will enable wired telecom service customers to switch from existing copper lines to fiber at no additional cost and provide fast internet service up to 50 GB per second according to their needs. In the first phase, 60 thousand in Addis Ababa and 40 thousand in regional cities will benefit a total of 100 thousand customers.

In addition to providing quality service by reducing the frequency of failures experienced by the copper line with the new fiber line, it will enable to provide digital services such as smart home, health, entertainment, video conference to customers who want high speed (Ultra-low latency).

This huge national initiative will be divided into phases and will be carried out throughout our country and will create a huge potential to play a key role in the realization of digital Ethiopia by connecting individuals and institutions with a fast and modern fiber network to enable them to benefit from advanced telecom and digital solutions.
