Bisrat Radio raised a question to the public relations director of the commission, Ato Geremew Ayalew, about the existence of legal prisoners who met the criteria for amnesty and were released in 2015.

Ato Geremew, while clarifying the issue, said in his interview with Bisrat Radio that in the past, when inmates swore to meet the parole criteria, holidays were expected to be released, but now this system has been abandoned and prisoners who meet the criteria are being released every time outside of holidays.

He added that the Federal Attorney General should not wait for a holiday to release prisoners who meet the parole criteria. Based on this, 7,711 men and 413 women in federal prisons were released on parole for a total of 8,144 prisoners at various times in the 2014 fiscal year, Ato Geremew told Bisrat Radio.
