Ambel Shimeles Bekele of the Walyayu has announced his retirement from the national team after 15 years.

"I feel it's time to say goodbye to the national team. I feel the time to play for the green, yellow, red flag that I love and long for is over," he shared a farewell message.

Shimeles Bekele, who was able to make a big mark by making Ethiopia qualify for two African Cups; He was able to play in 83 games for the Ethiopian national team.

"I would like to say that I will continue to support my country and the national team with emotion and pride. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who believed in me and stood by my side from the first day to the last," Shimels said in his farewell message.
