The leader of the Degodia tribe, Wober Abdile, Wober Abdi received a medal for his contribution to peace.

The traditional leader of the Degodia tribe of Somali region, Wober Abdile Wober Abdi, received the 2019 Father of Peace Medal of Honor from former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The head of the Somali region, Mustafa Muhammed, presented the peace medal to the leader of the Degodia clan.

Wober Abdile Wober Abdi, the only traditional leader of the Degodia tribe in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya, is said to have worked to prevent damage to the lives and property of citizens living in the area due to conflicts.

The head of the Somali region, Mr. Mustafe Muhammad, said that the work done by the tribal leader to ensure that the tribes in the Liban zone live in peace and to live in peace with the communities in the neighboring countries is admirable.

Former Ambassador of Ethiopia to Kenya and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Meles Adelman, said that Wober Abdelile is not only the traditional leader of the Degodia tribe, but also the father of peace for Ethiopians.

Ambassador Meles also mentioned that the Peace Medal of Honor award is a victory for all Ethiopians.

The members of the Kenyan delegation who handed over the award stated that the award was given to Waber Abdile to be recognized as a role model of peace and to encourage others.

The award ceremony was attended by elders, religious leaders, monks, senior government officials and invited guests.

Wober Abdule Wober Abdi is the father of peace who lives in the Filtu district of Liban zone of Somali region, according to the Office of Communication Affairs of the Somali Regional Government.
