The Election Board announced the results of the referendum held in the southern region.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia announced the results of the referendum held in six zones and five special districts of the Southern Nations and Peoples Regional Government.

A white dove symbol is represented for these zones and special districts to be organized into a single region and a nest symbol is represented to say that I do not support the organization into a single region.

According to the results announced by the National Election Board today:

Due to the decision to repeat the referendum of Wolaita zone and excluding 81 polling stations that were not included in other zones and special districts, it was stated that more than 1.6 million voters in one region chose the symbol of Raj.

It was pointed out that 78 thousand 970 voters did not support the organization in one region.

The chairman of the National Election Board, Birtukan Mideksa, who made a statement about the results, said that the results of 81 stations that were not included in the results were not included because they did not have an impact on the overall results of the zones.

He also explained that the whole of Wolaita zone was not included in the result, so it could affect the result of the general referendum, so a new referendum will be held.

The polling stations whose election results are not included in the results are the entire Wolaita zone and Konso 4 polling stations, South Omo 4 polling stations, Gamo 21 polling stations, Gedeo 23 polling stations, Gofa 10 polling stations, Burji special district 2 polling stations, Ale special district 3 polling stations, Amaro Special Ward 7 and Derashe Special Ward 7 are polling stations.
