Africans should cooperate by expanding industries based on multi-economy: President Sahlework Zewde

President Sahlework Zewde said that African countries need to cooperate in expanding industries based on multi-economy.

The 2023 African Economic Summit is being held in Addis Ababa.

Policy makers, industry experts, private sector representatives and other stakeholders are participating in the conference, including President Sahlework Zewden and Industry Minister Melaku Alebel.

The conference was jointly organized by the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the United Nations Development Program.

President Sahlework Zewde said that the conference will strengthen meaningful partnership and suggest solutions to achieve Africa's 2063 agenda.

He mentioned that industrial development plays an important role in global development. In particular, he said, the sector should be able to achieve progress by resisting various pressures and influences.

They also pointed out that it is necessary to design strategies to break away from dependence on imported products, ESA reported.

For this reason, he pointed out that African countries should cooperate in expanding industries based on a diversified economy.
