Veteran artists Fikirte Desalegne and Yigerem Dejene will be honored at the 10th Guma Awards. 

Fikirte Desalegne is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, while Yigerem Dejene will be recognized for his charity work. The awards ceremony will take place on October 8, 2017, at the Sheraton Addis.

 

Throughout her career, Fikirte Desalegne has received numerous trophies and certificates in recognition of her contributions to the arts. Some notable examples include:

 

➢ In 1969, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for participating as an actor at the second celebration of the culture and arts of Black people of Africa and the world, held in Lagos, Nigeria.  

➢ In 1980, she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her vocal contributions to the 13th anniversary of the revolution.  

➢ In 2007, she received a Certificate of Appreciation at the 3rd round of the Guma Film Awards for being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the film "On the Road."  

➢ From 1988 to 2007, the National Theater of Ethiopia honored her with multiple trophies made from marble and certificates of appreciation for her outstanding contributions to Ethiopian art.  

➢ In 1998, she received a Certificate of Appreciation for her vocal contributions to the theater's 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations.  

➢ She was recognized for her participation in the television drama series "Marfeja" produced by Rose Promotion Entertainment in 1998.  

➢ In 1995, the Christian Charity and Development Organization honored her with a Certificate of Appreciation for her participation in the movie "Baytewar."  

➢ In 2006, the Cross Sisters Association awarded her a trophy made of marble for her contributions to the arts.  

➢ She has also received Certificates of Appreciation for her roles in the films "We Don't Deserve," "Airaq," "Another Day," "Aduka," "Black Point," "Haywete," "400 Love," and "Live Love."

 

These awards serve as a testament to her significant contributions to the arts.

 

On the other hand, Yigerem Dejene has been recognized for over 15 years for his social responsibility and extensive charitable work. He has served as an ambassador for various charity institutions, and his notable achievements include:

 

1. Donating blood over 30 times and serving as an ambassador for the National Blood Bank.  

2. Organizing a record-breaking blood drive that collected 14,000 units of blood in a single day, during a critical shortage caused by the war.  

3. Raising more than 40 million birr to build a center for the elderly in Hawassa, and currently raising over 20 million birr towards a new building costing more than 100 million birr.  

4. Releasing an album with proceeds benefiting charity work.  

5. Helping to raise more than 3 million birr through the Endredada Charity Association for the elderly.  

6. Coordinating charitable supporters to contribute over half a million birr.  

7. Donating a full album to the Ethydia Kidney Society.  

8. Actively participating in charity work across the country, whether organized by the government or private institutions.

 

For his outstanding contributions to charity, Yigerem Dejene has been chosen to receive an award at the 10th Guma Awards in October.
