In Amhara region: More than 180,000 people were infected with malaria in the month of July alone

#Ethiopia The Public Health Institute of the Amhara Region has announced that more than 40,000 people have been infected with malaria every week since July.

Damte Lankar, the coordinator of the malaria program at the institute, told Ethio FM that it shows a 31 percent increase compared to last year.

He also mentioned that the malaria epidemic is expected to be worst in September and October.

The coordinator stated that the spread is at a serious level, but if it cannot be reduced now, it may cause a serious problem in the months of September and October, which are known as the main period of malaria.

He said that they are working together with the relevant stakeholders to solve the problem in an appropriate way.

They also mentioned that spraying is being done in 22 districts where there is pressure.

He said that the community should be involved in the prevention and control of malaria, and since malaria cannot be controlled by treating it alone, everyone should contribute to the prevention of malaria. 

They stressed that it is important to use the given bed allowance properly.
