All of you who have studied anywhere in Ethiopia, the schools where you studied need your support today - Prime Minister Abiy

Addis Ababa, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made a call to all of you who have studied in any part of Ethiopia. The schools you studied in yesterday need your support today.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has launched the nationwide "Education for the Generation" movement, which is designed to improve the infrastructure of schools with the participation of all citizens and institutions.

In his speech when Prime Minister Abiy launched the movement, he said that all of you who have studied in any part of Ethiopia, the schools you studied in yesterday need your support today.

He called on us to meet the expectations of today's education as we cannot be competitive in the future world without the expansion of education.

In order to show our support in action, we have started the national movement "Education for the Generation" which enables us all to spend our thoughts, money, energy and everything we have for schools.

To build a better Ethiopia. He emphasized that we should build advanced schools together.

It is stated that the movement is where former students, famous personalities, Ethiopians living abroad and Ethiopians, investors and other members of the society contribute to improving the infrastructure of schools in their place of birth and where they work.

It was also pointed out that private and government institutions as well as development partners will leave their footprints to complete the infrastructure of schools in the areas where they work.

It is said that the movement was mainly necessary because many schools in Ethiopia are below standard.

According to information from the Ministry of Education, 86 percent of the general schools in Ethiopia lack the necessary infrastructure for teaching and learning.

It is also said that more than 71 percent of secondary schools are not equipped with the same infrastructure.

Among the infrastructural problems observed in the schools are the lack of clean drinking water, toilets, electricity and educational resources.
